These terms cover your use of Lucky Cat HSK — the website and progressive web app at luckycathsk.com and the Android app of the same name (together, "the app"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.
Lucky Cat HSK is a vocabulary-learning game for HSK Chinese. It ranks words by how often they actually appear in past HSK mock exams and turns practising them into an arcade game.
It is a study aid, not a course, a qualification, or a guarantee. We do not promise any particular exam result. The vocabulary rankings are derived from a finite set of past papers and are our best effort, not an official syllabus. Lucky Cat HSK is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Hanban, Chinese Testing International, or any official HSK examination body.
You can install and play the whole game as a guest, offline, with no account. In that mode your progress is stored only on your device. Clearing your browser storage, uninstalling the app, or switching device will lose it. Signing in is optional and exists so your progress can be backed up and follow you across devices — see the Privacy Policy.
The app is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use it with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and do not make purchases without their permission.
If you choose to sign in, keep your sign-in method secure — anyone with access to your email or linked account can reach your saved progress. Tell us at support@luckycathsk.com if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else. You may delete your account and its cloud data from within the app at any time; deletion is permanent.
The app is free to play. Some optional extras can be bought:
Coins and cosmetic items are not money. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be sold. They exist only inside the app and only for as long as the app runs.
Prices are shown in the app before you confirm. Where you buy determines who takes the payment: purchases made on the web are processed by Stripe, and purchases made inside the Android app are processed by the Google Play billing system. Their terms apply to the payment itself in addition to these terms.
Delivery is immediate: your purchase is applied to your balance as soon as payment is confirmed. Refunds are covered by the separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
We may suspend or end access, and remove entitlements obtained by abuse, where this section is broken.
The app, its artwork, audio, text, and the compiled vocabulary rankings belong to the provider named above, apart from third-party components used under their own licences. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own study. That licence ends if you stop using the app or if access is ended under §5.
We update the app regularly — features can change, and features can be removed. We try to keep it available but do not promise uninterrupted service: it depends on hosting, app stores, and networks we do not control. The app is designed to keep working offline for ordinary play.
If we ever discontinue the app entirely, we will give reasonable notice on luckycathsk.com where we can, and honour the Refund Policy for purchases made in the period before the notice.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties — including that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and that any study outcome will follow from using it.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost progress, lost data, or lost opportunity. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or THB 1,000.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be removed — including your statutory rights under Thai consumer law and, if you are in the EU or UK, your statutory rights there.
These terms are governed by the law of Thailand, and the courts of Thailand have jurisdiction — except where consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these terms do not take away.
We may update these terms as the app changes. The effective date above always shows the current version. Material changes will be announced in the app or on the website. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, stop using the app and, where the Refund Policy applies, request a refund.
